Using laptops with software.

A recent customer needed to have the Timer(Multi Switches) software operating on his notebook computer for various reasons.

Here is his email reply. Just thought you should know that I found a solution for making the Timer work with my recent model Sony Vaio notebook computer. As you know the parallel port was on the docking port replicator and was USB supported. It was not connect as LPT1 on port 0378.

I purchased an "SPP-100 PCMCIA 1 port high speed parallel card" for my notebook from

 Quatech - B&B Electronics (bb-elec.com)

Initially it could be assigned to LPT1 but not to port 0378 (Windows XP) but Quatech responded quickly with a new driver.
